Last week we celebrated Children of Foster Carers Week; a special time to recognise the incredible young people who play such an important role in fostering families.

Behind every amazing foster carer is often a child or young person who shares their home, their family, and their heart. They show understanding, patience, kindness, and empathy beyond their years.

Being part of a fostering family isn’t always easy. It can mean sharing attention, adapting to change, and saying goodbye when a foster child moves on. Yet so many children of foster carers embrace these challenges with remarkable maturity and compassion. They help new children feel welcome, offer friendship when it’s needed most, and remind us all what unconditional acceptance truly looks like.

We want to say a heartfelt thank you to every child and young person in a fostering household. Your support, resilience, and generosity make a real difference. Not just to the children who come into your home, but to the entire fostering community.

You are an essential part of what makes fostering work. You are role models, helpers, and heroes in your own right.
